Catawba Valley Camera Club 2009 Schedule
The Catawba Valley Camera Club meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 7:00pm in the North Annex of the Arts Center in Hickory.
Meetings consist of competition among members in print and projected images as well as instructional lectures. Field trips are planned throughout the year to enable members to share and demonstrate techniques as well as spend time enjoying photography together.
Guests are welcome to view the images during the competition and may comment on images during the critique part of the meeting but guests cannot compete or judge during the competition until they have paid their yearly dues to become a member of the Catawba Valley Camera Club.

3/18/2009 Topical Contest “Roll Your Own Topic” Projection (2) *
*note: “within calendar year restriction” not applicable to this contest
“Roll Your Own Topic” means that you chose the subject matter for your image. You MUST give it a title (4 words or less) Part of the judging on this competition will be how well the image conveys the essence of the title to the viewer. The remaining part will be the artistic & technical aspects of the image as always.
So if your title is “Happiness” you can shoot anything from a clown to a kid with a bowl of ice cream or even someone who makes you happy. But it should convey that subject or theme easily to the viewer. And if you want to do a collage with multiple images about happiness you may do so, so long as the collage of the images fits the required 768 pixels. Or if your choice is “Seasons” & you collage 4 images of Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall. So you may actually “roll” 3 topics / titles with multiple images in 3 collages or 3 distinct individual images to fit each topic.

Hey I was just wondering if you might be interested in a photo competition once a year with other clubs in NC, SC and/or GA. We judge for a group of clubs up in Buffalo NY area. Perhaps they could return the favor. Or we could do it amongst ourselves. Interested? Let me Know.–tom, Charlotte camera club
T Snyder, I have noted your idea of an inter club competition. As the out going President I do not want to start this now. However I will be on the officers group next year and will pass it along to the new president this fall. I think it sounds like a good idea. Dennis
