Catawba Valley Camera Club Photo Competition Winners 2011

The Catawba Valley Camera Club hosted a reception and awards presentation for its fifth annual photo competition, IMAGE*INATION, at the Hickory Museum of Art on Friday, January 6, 2012 announced the winners.  Their photos will be on display at the museum until March 30.

The competition was open to everyone except Catawba Camera Club members.  There were two divisions:  seventeen and under and eighteen and above.  There were cash prizes for the winners.  First, second. third and honorable mention were selected in each age group.  Also selected was the Best of Show photograph.

 

Best of Show won by Doreen Sugierski:
with the image  "Charlotte Skyline and Amtrak".

The over eighteen Division winners were:

First place:
Kim Fearheiley with an image entitled "The Swings"

Second place:
Doreen Sugierski with an image entitled "Graffiti Bug"

Third place:
Luke Walsh with an image entitled "Family Tree"

Honorable Mention:
Fred Kelly with an image entitled "Man Using Sextant at Sea"

First place:
Olivia Kelly with an image entitled "Lucas"

Second Place:
Angela Lo with an image entitled "Building"

Third Place:
Cathiryn Frye with an image entitled "Kool-Aid in Sunlight"

The Catawba Valley Camera Club meets on the first and third Wednesdays of every month, 7:00 pm in the North Annex of the Arts Center in Hickory.  Meetings consist of competition among members as well as instructional lectures. Field trips are planned throughout the year to enable members to share and demonstrate techniques as well as spend time enjoying photography together.   The next meeting will be January 18, 2012.  The program will be on Stock Photography given by Robert Dant.  The public is invited to attend, membership is not required.
