The Catawba Valley Camera Club has announced the winners of its
photographic competition for the November 18, 2009 meeting.
The competition was Projection.  The topic was Doors.

The Accomplished Division winners were:

1st Place - Rick Bell - "Corinth Doors"

2nd Place - Carl Schmitt - "Warehouse Doors"

 

3rd Place - Carl Schmitt - "Center Family Doorway"

The Beginner’s Division winners were:

1st Place - Cynthia Harmon - "Victorian Doorknob"

 

2nd Place - Stan Bolton - "Heaven's Door"

 

3rd Place (tie) - Wink Gaines - "Patchwork Door"

11/4/2009 Projection Winners

The Catawba Valley Camera Club has announced the winners of its
photographic competition for the November 4, 2009 meeting.
The competition was Projection.  Images had to be from field trips attended this year.

The Accomplished Division winners were:

Tie - 3rd Place -Robert Dant - "Bear in the Attic"

The next meeting will be October 21, 2009 featuring instructional night with Joe Young, head of the Photography Department at CVCC, with a presentation on “Documentary and Story Telling with Photographs”.

HDR Instructional

Dave Rhuberg (Catawba Valley Camera Club Member) enlightened us Wednesday night on High Definition Range Imaging.   HDR is new to some of us in the club but the session was very informative and makes us want to do more research and use HDR in our photography.

The Catawba Valley Camera Club has announced the winners of its photographic competition for the August 19, 2009 meeting. The competition was print images with the assigned topic “Reflections.”

The Accomplished Division winners were:

First Place – John Hildebrand – “Orlando Skyline.”

Second Place was a tie between Rick Bell -  “Picket Fence”

and John Hildebrand - “Alexandria.”

The Beginner’s Division winners were:

First place - Wink Gaines - “Lake Tacoma Reflection.”

Second Place - Dennis Hacker - “Sentimental Journey.”

Third Place - Cynthia Harmon  - “Lincoln Reflection.”

Field Trip to Mount Mitchell

Recently, members of the Catawba  Valley Camera Club took a field trip to Mount Mitchell to photograph the waterfalls.

Rick Bell is not in the photo as his butt was too sore from a slip on a slippery rock slope.  Donny Teague was to my left as I shot. (Would have needed a fish’s eye). Wink Gaines’ head is actually in the photo to Ed Lane’s left.  The butt belongs to Tom Devlin and Dennis Hacker, our fearless leader, is to the right.  I think all are therefore accounted for except Tom brought his wife Helen along.  I believe she wrote poetry but cannot verify such matters. – Steven Gold

photographic competition for the June 15, 2009 meeting.
The competition was Prints.

The Accomplished Division winners were:

First place went to Ed Lane for “Seattle Rainbow”

Second place went to Rick Bell for “Barn”

Third place was a tie with John Hildebran winning for “Kari’s Dreaming”

and the third place tie went to Dick Washer with “Sloan Sinclair”

First place in the B Group was a tie.  Donnie Teague with “Hikers Delight”

and Patrick  McGinnis with “370z Nismo”

Second place was also won by Patrick McGinnis for  “Red GT-R”

There was no third place as there was the tie for 1st
